On the afternoon of October 7, on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 20th anniversary of the merger of Wuhan University of technology, the inauguration ceremony of Navigation Digital Planetarium hosted by School of Navigation and the unveiling ceremony of Science Education Base of China Institute of Navigation (CIN) were held in the Navigation Digital Spherical Planetarium of Wuhan University of Technology (WUT). Academician Pan Delu, expert in Marine remote sensing, academician Zhu Yingfu, chief designer of Chinese aircraft carrier Liaoning, vice president Liu Zuyuan, Wu Chaozhong, alumni and guests from all walks of life, leaders of relevant functional departments of WUT, retired senior leaders and representatives of aged teachers, all faculty and student representatives attended the ceremony.
Vice president Wu Chaozhong delivered a speech to extend warm welcome to all guests and alumni on behalf of WUT. He encouraged the faculty to focus on the new era and new navigation, meet the national strategy and the new needs of the industry, continuously deepen the reform of education and teaching, accelerate the upgrading of talent cultivation system, and cultivate more excellent talents with solid specialty, excellent quality and outstanding ability for the society and the industry.
Entrusted by president He Jianzhong, Yan Xiaobo, secretary general of CIN, delivered a speech on behalf of CIN. He firstly congratulated on the official completion of Navigation Digital Planetarium and its listing as Science Education Base of CIN. Then he introduced the efforts made by CIN in promoting navigation science education, strengthening base construction, and helping to build a maritime power and transportation power. He hoped that the Navigation Digital Planetarium would continue to improve navigation education and the quality of navigation talents, and at the same time actively carry out navigation science education and social practice activities for the youth outside school, strive to create and build a distinctive brand of navigation science education, and inspire the youth to actively explore the history and the knowledge of navigation, and strives to build a science demonstration base.
In the warm atmosphere of celebration, vice president Liu Zuyuan and director Zhu Ruming of China Jiangsu MSA unveiled the Navigation Digital Planetarium of WUT, while secretary general of CIN Yan Xiaobo and vice president of WUT Wu Chaozhong unveiled Science Education Base of CIN.
