At this wonderful moment of bidding farewell to the old year and welcoming the new year, on behalf of the Ninth Council of CIN, I would like to extend greetings and best wishes for the new year to all members and through you, to the nautical scientific and technical workers and people from all walks of life who support the work of CIN!
The past year has been a year of special significance in the development of the CIN. In the last year, the institute made great achievements in promoting academic progress in navigation, expanding foreign exchanges and cooperation, strengthening the outreach of navigation characteristics, enhancing social service ability and reinforcing self-construction. In the last year, we celebrated the 40th birthday of CIN. We successfully held the Ninth National Congress of CIN and elected a new board of directors, a board of supervisors, a standing council and a leading group of the institute.
To the beat of the drum we travel on, Courageous we sail into the storm. 2020 is a critical year for the development of CIN. Standing on a new starting point, all of us should be faithful to the original heart, advance bravely, seize the moment and live it to the full, continue to struggle, and compose the new chapter. In the new year, we should be the activists and the strugglers who overcome difficulties. Under the guidance of Xi Jinping’s Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era , we will strive to make CIN the link between the party and the government and nautical scientific and technical workers, a scientific and technological think tank for government decision consultation, an important channel for training nautical scientific and technical workers and promoting nautical scientific and technological achievements and the forward position to inherit and develop maritime culture. We must focus on serving the national strategy, the construction of “the Belt and Road” initiative, and play a leading role in promoting maritime transport. We must focus on regional development strategy, and play a collaborative role. We must conduct in-depth investigations and studies on the topics such as maritime power, maritime technology, maritime education, and international cooperation and put forward new ideas, new measures and new ways for the development of navigation. We must pay attention to self-construction, improve the quality of the staff of the institute, improve the function of work, enhance the awareness of service, and strictly implement the norms of behavior. We should make sure that science and technology services can produce achievements, member services produce talents, industry services provide standards, and system services provide efficiency. Efforts should be made to consolidate the foundation, strengthen internal construction, manage branches, extend cooperation with local institutes of navigation, accelerate the development of think tanks, and deepen international and regional academic exchanges. We must strive to build the institute into a world-class academic organization that is highly dependent on by the industry, trusted by the society, satisfied with by members.
Let’s devote ourselves to our work, seizing today, and seizing the moment, creating new achievements and composing new brilliance. With the attitude and passion of the “struggler” in the new era, we should carve the oath of “a maritime power and a shipping power” into the new annual ring.
