On the afternoon of February 1, Huang Youfang, Chairman of China Institute of Navigation (CIN) and President of Shanghai Maritime University visited Wang Chunfa, Director of National Museum of China (NMC). Together with Huang Youfang are Cao Di, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee, Wangqun, Secretary General, Gu Weiguo, Vice Secretary General and Qin Liqing, Deputy Director of the President’s office of Shanghai Maritime University.
Chairman Huang Youfang introduced CIN’s work on "Belt and Road" initiative and the art education and exhibition of Shanghai Maritime University.
Director Wang Chunfa briefly introduced the NMC and its exhibition system and highlighted recent year’s work of NMC in protecting, inheriting and displaying outstanding historical culture, revolutionary culture, and contemporary advanced culture in China.
With a floor area of nearly 200,000 square meters, NMC is the largest museum in the world. Its west gate faces Tian’anmen Square and is opposite to the Great Hall of the People and the north gate faces Chang’an Avenue. There are 48 exhibition halls in NMC and the largest one covers an area of 2,000 square meters. Serving as the ancestral halls and temples of Chinese culture, NMC houses more than 1.3 million valuable cultural heritage left by the ancestors. NCM is the birthplace of "Chinese Dream". On November 29, 2012, General Secretary Xi Jinping led all members of the newly elected communist party’s politburo standing committee visited NMC’s permanent exhibition The Road of Rejuvenation and delivered an important speech. In his speech, General Secretary Xi Jinping came up with the proposition of realizing the Chinese Dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation for the first time. NMC is also the cultural parlor of the country. Every year, many foreign heads of states, leaders and dignitaries come to visit NCM.
The two sides also conducted preliminary discussion on future cooperation in exhibitions that will serve the national strategy.
