At the beginning of 2017, China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) released an announcement on the implementation of the statistical survey of CAST. The announcement was based on the Integral Statistical Reporting System of CAST, approved by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in December 2016. CIN was awarded the excellent units for the first time over the years. The comprehensive statistical survey of CAST covered several aspects：the organization(building) of CAST system, the service provided for scientific and technological personnel, the service for innovation-driven development, academic exchanges, scientific journals, the extensive development and exchanges of science and technology, popularization of science and technology, education on science and technology for adolescents, infrastructure construction for popularization of science, science and technology communication, scientific and technological innovation and science and technology think tank construction.
The comprehensive statistical survey was limited in time, massive in contents and heavy in task, with high standard and strict requirements. After receiving this announcement, CIN went deep into the meaning of the work and attached great importance it. In order to perform it well, CIN specially held a meeting to make arrangements and designate particular person to take charge of it, and issued a notice and made requirements to its 22 affiliations. CIN and its affiliations carefully studied and accurately grasped new index system and standard of Integral Statistical Reporting System of CAST，strengthening data collection and data auditing to ensure that the data can be reported timely, comprehensively, accurately and credibly.
CIN will work harder and forge ahead in future, continue to improve the construction of statistical system and standardization of statistical work，and further enhance the quality of statistical work.
