On April 21, China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) held the Preparatory Meeting for 2017 WTC at China Hall of Science and Technology in Beijing. Comrade Song Jun, Party Member of CAST and Director General of the CAST Department of Academic and Societies Affairs participated in the Preparatory Meeting, together with Su Xiaojun, Deputy Director General of the CAST Department of Academic and Societies Affairs, and other leading comrades from related departments of CAST, such as its General Office, Department of Planning and Finance, Department of Research and Publicity, and Department of International Affairs. Some comrades from CHTS(China Highway and Transportation Society), the organizer of 2017 WTC(World Transport Convention) also attended the meeting, including Weng Mengyong, President of the CHTS Administrative Council, Liu Wenjie, Vice President, Ju Rongyun, Vice Secretary General and other delegates from related departments of CHTS. Meanwhile, this meeting was also attended by Wang Qun, Secretary General of CIN, Gu Weiguo, Vice Secretary General, Guo Weihua and Liu Ying from the Secretariat of CIN, as well as the chairs of WTC’s co-organizers and their comrades from related departments of organizations like China Railway Society, Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics, China Air Transport Association, Service Center for Societies of CAST, China Center for International Science and Technology Exchange. The meeting was chaired by Su Xiaojun, Deputy Director General of the CAST Department of Academic and Societies Affairs.
IIn the meeting, Liu Wenjie, Secretary General of 2017 WTC Organizing Committee, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of CHTS, first introduced the progress of the preparatory meeting. Liu said the 2017 WTC was the first World Transportation Conference sponsored by CAST with the approval of the State Council, and also another world-class science and technology conference the CAST hosted after the success of the World Robot Conference(WRC) and the World Life Science Conference in 2016. The conference, themed as " Innovation Leading ·Green Integration", covered seminars on science and technology, exhibitions of achievements and products, release of the subject reports and scientific and technical awarding, aiming to provide the transportation industry with an international exchanging platform for creating, leading, demonstrating and implementing innovation.
Song Jun, Minister of CAST, delivered a speech at the meeting. He stressed that the 2017 World Transportation Conference (WTC) sponsored by CAST would be a priority this year and also a major event in the tech world. All participant organizations should raise awareness and do solid work. This preparatory meeting served both as a report meeting and as a mobilization meeting, a deployment meeting. We had now entered the critical stage of the preparation meeting. We should make refined overall plans and take all factors into consideration, assign specific tasks to everyone with individual responsibility, and gradually carry out each proposal to hold an influential event with high level.
To well prepare the work, relevant departments of CAST led the establishment of a professional working group. Members of each group would connect and coordinate with the contractor and co-organizers respectively for specific works.
In order to better assist the 2017 WTC, China Institute of Navigation (CIN) had launched lots of preparatory and organizational work, and the 2017 CIN Academic Annual Meeting, Special Forum on Navigation Remote Sensing, Special Forum on Navigation Psychology, etc., were incorporated into the theme forum group of this conference. During WTC, 2016 CIN Science and Technology Award, 2016 CIN Youth Science and Technology Award, the Seventh National Science and Technology Award for Excellence(Navigation), etc., would be awarded. New navigation technologies and equipment developed in recent years would also be displayed by CIN during the conference.
According to the requirements of the preparatory meeting, Wang Qun, Secretary General, negotiated and adjusted part of the implementation plan in a timely manner. After preparatory meeting, the Secretariat of the working group assigned difficult tasks and further refined the work program, ensuring full implementation of the relevant tasks according to the requirements of CAST and the preparation meeting.
