On October 19th to 20th, 2016, academic annual conference of CIN was held as planned in Dalian and undertaken by Dalian Maritime University. Huang Youfang, Chairman of CIN and President of Shanghai Maritime University, Yu Shicheng, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee, and Wang Qun, Secretary General of CIN, participated in the conference. A total number of 210 representatives attended the conference, including Zheng Shaonan, Secretary of the Party Committee of Dalian Maritime University, Sun Yuqing, President of Dalian Maritime University, Pan Xinxiang, Vice President of Dalian Maritime University, Sun Peiyan and experts, scholars and authors of multiple institutions from national navigation field.
This year’s annual conference specially put emphasis on Keynote Report, Special Report and Annual Exchange of Academic Papers. The conference was honored to have Yinzhuo deliver a Keynote Report on ‘Historical Facts and Jurisprudential Evidence of the South China Sea Issue’, who was Senior Consultant of China International Institute for Strategic Society, consultant of Science and Technology Committee of the General Armaments Department and Director of Advisory Committee of Experts on Navy Network Security and Information Technology, Sun Yuqing, President of Dalian Maritime University, deliver a Keynote Report on ‘Prospect for New Development and Education on Marine Technology’, and Senior Captain Hu Yuexiang present a special report. In addition, special reports were made by experts and scholars from China Maritime Safety Administration, Salvage Bureau, Telecommunication and Information Center, China Ocean Shipping Group and Shanghai Maritime University.
In accordance with the academic tradition and style of previous years, the present academic conference projected the characteristics of originality in the context of new opportunities and conditions. First of all, the conference featured distinctive academic characteristics and rich academia, which drew more participants from a wider range of fields to contribute and communicate, bringing new progress and achievements on marine technology from different angles, levels and fields and further consolidate and improve the overall research level of domestic marine technology. Besides, the annual conference demonstrated more plenteous academic achievements, which provided 462 papers, a larger quantity than ever, of which 87 distinguished paper and 11 awarded papers, with wider research fields and of higher quality. Furthermore, the annual conference presented a broader stage for academic exchange. The experts and scholars introduced wise conceptions and novelty subjects which broaden participants’ perspectives and arouse their resonance.
Up till now, after 37 years of development, the annual academic conference of CIN has shown increasing cohesion and authority, growing up into a resource sharing and interactive platform for Chinese marine science and technology workers to exchange ideas and information, strengthen mutual understanding and pursue development, as well as a dominant platform to demonstrate progress and achievement on marine science and academic research with the mutual efforts of navigators. In the near future, it will expand into a service platform to promote the transformation and application of scientific and technological achievements. In accordance with the strategy of China’s marine power, the annual academic conference will play an even more positive and indispensable role in promoting marine science and technology.
