On September 8, 2021, the international cooperative forum on “Silk Road Shipping” in 2021 was held in Xiamen, Fujian Province. The forum was co-hosted by Fujian Provincial People’s Government and CIN, and held by Xiamen Municipal Government, Fujian Development and Reform Commission, Fujian Provincial Department of Transportation, Department of Commerce of Fujian Province and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Fujian sub-council.
Guests from the national ministries and commissions, domestic and foreign ports, shipping logistics and trade service enterprises, universities, think tanks and relevant industry associations attended the conference. They focused on the theme of “Silk Road Shipping-New Stage, New Opportunity, New Mission” to exchange ideas on port and shipping cooperation, economic and trade prosperity and high-quality development of “The Belt and Road Initiative”. In addition, they proposed some advice on the development of “Silk Road Shipping”.
Zhang Baochen, executive vice president of CIN, attended the conference and delivered a speech. He pointed out that since the creation of the forum, including nominating it as “Silk Road Shipping” route, signing 18 strategic cooperation projects in the first forum, establishing “Silk Road Shipping” alliance and releasing a series of achievements in the two forums. All these had reflected the continuous increase of the influence of “Silk Road Shipping” and the forum itself as a brand, the role as a link among all parties in the construction of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, and its position as a platform for showing the achievements of the construction of “Silk Road Shipping” core area. With the development of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, we should put much emphasis on how to adapt to new stage, seize new opportunities, meet new challenges, and shoulder the heavy responsibility of promoting the forum’s high-quality development under the new development paradigm.
Zhang Baochen said that CIN would always take the trategy of serving the marine power,s transportation power and shipping power and “The Belt and Road Initiative” as their own responsibilities. And CIN co-hosted three forums with the theme of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road with relevant parties including the “Silk Road Shipping” forum. CIN would promote communication, experience sharing, cooperation and staggered development among the organizers and hosts, so as to make the forum better and better, and realize the vision of “negotiating port and shipping cooperation, building Silk Road corridors and sharing economic and trade prosperity” as soon as possible.
