Hyundai Heavy Industries Co.,Ltd Launches Artificial Intelligence Ship Operating System

South Korean shipping company Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. has begun to use a new ship operating system, which can reduce fuel costs by 10%. Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. uses artificial intelligence and modern intelligent device management solutions to enhance its independently researched and developed Hi-Touch Marine and Stationery (HiEMS) engines.

Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. stated that fuel efficiency can be optimized by using artificial intelligence and HiEMS to conductreal-time collection and analysis of ship engine big data and real-time information, and adjusting the ship power control management system.

Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. is also committed to providing remote monitoring and preventive diagnostic services from a digital control center in Busan to expand its smart engine business.

The company said: "We hope to use advanced technology to develop intelligent ships to cope with the fierce competition from the Chinese and Japanese shipbuilding industries and maintain its technological advantages."

Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. launched HiEMS in 2018, and since then it has received orders for 45 new ships (170 main engines).
