From September 28 to 29, the 29th Secretary-General Salon of National Society was successfully held in Beijing, which was hosted by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and organized by the China Institution of Navigation(CIN). A large number of leaders participated in the salon, including Su Xiaojun, Deputy Minister of Academic Department of CAST, Zhang Chuncheng, Director of the Management Institution, Zhang Peng, Director of the Educational Training and Service Department, and Liao Laihong, Assistant Dean of the Continuing Education College of Peking University and other 47 Secretary Generals or delegates from the National Society. The Salon was presided by Cao Di, Executive Vice Chairman of CIN, centering on Professionalism and Specialization of Secretariat Officials of the National Society.
At first, on behalf of the CIN, Cao Di, Executive Vice Chairman of CIN, extended sincere care and trust to the CAST, and expressed the sincere appreciation to the participation and support from other domestic institutions. Cao made a keynote speech on how to improve the professional and specialized construction of the secretariat officials, based on the theme and the real work situations.
Later, Xu Wenzhen, Deputy Secretary-General of Chinese Society for Urban Studies(CSUS) , delivered a keynote speech on Research on Continuing Educational System of Full-time and Part-time Personnel of the National Society, which mainly introduced it from six aspects: research background, research objectives, status analysis, practical reference, system construction and educational implementation. Ye Jinrui, Deputy Secretary-General of Chinese Society for Multiple Materials(CSCM), delivered a keynote speech on Talented People’s Ambitions by Obtaining Achievements, Based on Establishing Professional System in Practice from the point of professionalization, professionalization development and professional system. Han Liping, Director of Management Department of China Highway and Transportation Society (CHTS), spoke on Upholding the Long-Term Path with Firm Steps---Strengthen the Professionalization Construction of Full-time Personnel to Promote Healthy Development of National Society on the Basis of Three Main Phases of Professionalization. After the speech, participants exchanged ideas and discussed the issues concerning the conditions for the development of talents, cultivation of specialized talents, the structure and methods of governance with three spokesmen.
Su Xiaojun, Vice Minister of Academic Department of CAST, delivered an instructive speech, in which he pointed out that the integrated work of materialization, professionalization and specialization of the Society was one of the significant tasks of the CAST in systematically deepening reform, and it was also the task of the Central Comprehensive Deepening Reform Leading Office in supervising the deepening reform progress made by the CAST. He emphasized that the professional and specialized construction of the Society was not only a requirement for national reform and development, but also a task to speed up development in the new era. Further, he correspondingly laid out his propose for the professional and specialized work to the Secretariat officials of the Institute. He hoped the Secretary-Generals could share experience and exchange views through the Secretary-General Salon, so that they could intensify the professionalization and specialization and further set specific goals. In addition, the abilities of the Secretariat staff in practice, execution and creation should be improved continuously.
This Salon had especially arranged the Secretary-Generals and delegates to discuss in groups centering on the theme. Members of each group took the floor one after another in warm atmosphere. After the discussion, Wang Hong, Secretary-General of China Leprosy Association (CLA), and Yu Mingxiang, Secretary-General of Chinese Petroleum Society (CPS), as the representative of their group, respectively delivered reports on policy research, remuneration, training and study, talent training, awards and incentives and other aspects to all participants.
This salon came to a successful conclusion in a harmonious atmosphere of active communication. This salon activity further expanded working ideas of professional and specialized construction of secretariat staff of the Society, strengthening the exchanges of experience and methods of improving their quality and ability. All participators benefited a lot from it.
