The 2017 Academic Annual Conference of Asia Navigation Conference (ANC2017) Held in Zhanjiang

On November 23th, the 2017 academic annual conference of Asia Navigation Conference  (ANC2017), jointly hosted by China Institute of Navigation, Japan Institute of Navigation and Korean Maritime Harbor Society, and organized by CIN and Guangdong Ocean University, was held in Zhanjiang, Guangdong province. This conference focuses on the theme "The Intelligent and Informationization Development of Navigation". More than 130 representatives attended the conference, including experts and scholars from China, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Turkey and other countries. Delegation from Japan and South Korea attended  with more than one third of the foreign attendants.

The opening ceremony of the conference was held in the multifunctional hall of Huguangyan campus of Guangdong Ocean University. Presidents of the Institute of Navigation from China, Japan and South Korea  delivered speeches respectively. Professor Huang Youfang, the president of CIN and Shanghai Maritime University, pointed out in his speech that this was the 16th academic exchange event in the navigation field jointly held by China, Japan and South Korea. In recent years, this activity has been gradually given enough concern  and recognized by the experts and scholars in the navigation field from the three countries and other Asian countries, and has become an important driving force for the development of marine science and technology.

Against the background of China's "The Belt and Road" Initiative and the goal of building a "transportation power", CIN is endeavoring to enhance the construction of its capacity and is ready to strengthen its ties and cooperation with Asia and other countries to enhance the development of marine science and technology and the prosperity of the shipping economy. Ye Chunhai, President of Guangdong Ocean University,delivered a speech on behalf of the organizer. He warmly welcomed all the experts and scholars  and foreign friends to the beautiful Zhanjiang city, while introduceing the education, training and research of marine specialties, as well as the talent support policy.

After the opening ceremony, Professor Tang Tianhao from Shanghai Maritime University and Dr. Peng Zhouhua from Dalian Maritime University, invited by this conference, respectively delivered  keynote reports on ‘Prospects for development of the electrification, informationization and intelligence of the shipping and maritime system.’ and ‘multi-USV formation control’..

On November 23th and 24th,discussions for the papers was conducted in groups. A total of 61 papers recommended by Chinese, Japanese and Krean-Japanese-Korean Institutes of Navigation and contributed by freelance authors from other countries participated in the oral presentations, and seven papers were presented on the board. After two-day speeches and exchanges, the panel of experts selected the winning papers this year. The two outstanding papers are Analyzing the Occupational Accidents in Australia Maritime Accidents using Human Error Assessment and Reductive Technique Methodology (Author: Ludfi Pratiwi Bowo, etc) recommended by Japan Institute of Navigation and Finding the Relationship between Human Error and SRK Behavior of Seafarers (Author: Deuk-Jin PARK, etc) recommended by Korean Institutes of Navigation. The Best Paper Prize is awarded to Han Zhiwei’s paper on the theme of An Investigation on the Enhancement Effect of UV Online Irradiation on NO Removal by Wet Scrubbing Using NaClO2 Solution. Professor Pan Xinxiang, vice President of Dalian Maritime University, presented the certificate and bonus to the Author of the Best Paper.

The next conference (ANC2018) will be held by the Japan Institute of Navigation  in Japan's chiba from November 26th to 28th, 2018. In the closing ceremony, professor Akihiko HORI introduced the transportation, climate, culture characteristics and other conditions of Makuhari and sincerely expressed his invitation..
