Chairman Huang Youfang and His Delegation Attends the Asia Navigation Conference 2016 (ANC 2016)

From Nov. 10th to 12th, the Asia Navigation Conference 2016 (ANC2016) was held at Yeosu, South Korea. Prof. Huang Youfang, chairman of China Institute of Navigation, presented the ANC2016, together with 24 specialists and young scholars from national maritime colleges and institutes. Scholars from China, Japan and South Korea as well as independent authors from Thailand and Malaysia, altogether 94, attended the conference.

Chairmen of Korean Institute of Navigation and Port Research (KINPR), China Institute of Navigation (CIN) and Japan Institute of Navigation (JIN) made their speeches respectively in the opening ceremony at the Yeosu Expo Site. Chairman Huang Youfang firstly expressed his gratitude toward Mr. Tae-Gweon Jeong, chairman of KINPR, and his colleagues for their efforts to this conference. He hoped that more scholars of Asian countries could get involved and make contributions to navigation technology in Asia and beyond, utilizing this academic platform to  exchange ideas, share information and have co-operations. In response to the “One Belt and One Road” initiative, CIN will strive to promote participation and implementation in jointly building the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road and conduct extensive cooperation with countries along the maritime silk road on soft science research, technological development and infrastructure construction.

After the conference, parallel sessions were organized for thesis group discussion. There were altogether 63 theses, including 27 theses recommended by KINPR and 18 by CIN and JIN. Through the two days’ discussion and selection, 3 theses including one titled the Research on the Standard Instructions of the Podded Electrically-propelled Ships, written by Mr. Cai Bin from Shanghai Pilot Station, were awarded as the Excellent Paper. Chairman Huang issued the certification to Mr. Cai Bin.  

ANC is jointly hosted and alternately organized by three institutes of navigation from China, Japan and South Korea for the purpose of academic exchanging of Asia navigation technology. This year is the 15th ANC. The 2017 academic conference will be hosted by CIN in Zhanjiang, China, from November 23th to 25th. Prof. Zhuo Yongqiang, president of Guangdong Ocean University, presented the information of transportation, climate, unique features of Zhanjiang, gave a brief introduction of the university and extended his warm welcome to all the prospective participants.
