On December 10th, 2020, the grant awarding ceremony for Zhang Rongfa Foundation of China Institute of Navigation (CIN) in 2019-2020 academic year was grandly held in Jiangsu Shipping College. He Jianzhong, president of CIN, and Xu Zuyuan, sponsor of the grant, attended the ceremony. During the ceremony, the guests exchanged opinions with students and encouraged them to actively devote themselves to the maritime industry, so as to contribute to the construction of a country with strong transportation network and grow to excellent talents in the shipping industry. Yan Xiaobo, secretary general of CIN, read out the list of recipients, and Shi Zhubin, president of Jiangsu Shipping College, presided over the ceremony.
In his speech, He Jianzhong, president of CIN, encouraged the nautical students to carry forward the spirit of scientists, to be an ideal and ambitious youth of the times, to actively practice the spirit of "patriotism, innovation, truth-seeking, dedication, coordination and education", to inherit and promote the excellent qualities of the elder generation of scientists who cherish the motherland and serve the people, and to integrate their personal ideals into China's long-term goals. He drove students to carry forward the navigation spirit and become a new generation of young people who love the ocean and devote to the navigation, always remembering General Secretary Xi Jinping's words--“an economic power must be a maritime power and a shipping power and“the transportation, especially shipping industry, must be strengthened first to boom the economy and a powerful country", to fulfill duties and be innovative, so as to contribute to the establishment of a transportation power, maritime power and shipping power. He also fostered them to uphold the spirit of workmanship, to be a model of the times to dedicate to work and society, to inherit the traditional virtues of the Chinese nation, and to practice the socialist core values. After all, it is crucial to achieve self-improvement, growth and accomplishment and always firm cultural confidence.
Yuan Weiguo, secretary of the Party committee of Jiangsu Shipping College, noted in his speech that as one of the first batch of national demonstration (backbone) vocational colleges and national transportation vocational demonstration colleges, Jiangsu Shipping College should always adhere to the orientation of “based on transportation, relying on the shipping industry, developing characteristics, serving Jiangsu and radiating across the country”, so as to cultivate more skilled talents of advanced technology for the development of local economy, society and the transportation industry. He pointed out that this grant is not only the financial support for those outstanding students with financial difficulties, but also a warm beacon guiding their way to success.
In his speech, the representative of the Zhang Rongfa Foundation expressed his gratitude to those who supported the establishment of the grant, stressed the far-reaching significance of the donation indicating the close contact and deep cooperation , congratulated the award-winning students and put forward his earnest hope.
Approved by the Management Committee of Zhang Rongfa Foundation of CIN, a total of 273 outstanding students with financial difficulties were awarded the grant in the academic year of 2019-2020, among which 12 students from Jiangsu Shipping College participated in the ceremony as representatives. Huang Xiaochen, student representative of the recipients, expressed his gratitude in his speech, saying that the grant from the Foundation made them feel the warmth given by the society as well as the earnest expectations and missions placed on their shoulders by the country and industry. Huang Yien, deputy assistant manager of shipping department and Zhao Yuanrong, manager of personnel department of Shanghai Branch of Evergreen Shipping Agency (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd., held a lecture for the students attending and exchanged opinions with them.
This Foundation was established in 2014, from which 1,361 students at present have received financial support, with a total amount of 5 million RMB.
